“Bay Area illustrator Niv Bavarsky creates alternate universes with ink and pixels, mixing loopy, detailed hand-drawn strokes with bold textures and dreamlike bursts of color. His imaginative approach brings a welcome hit of trippiness to mainstream outlets like the New York Times and ESPN, and runs completely wild on record sleeves and flyers for Fool’s Gold and throughout Niv’s prolific personal output.
Fool’s Gold is proud to present Niv’s debut solo exhibition as part of the Fool’s Gold Artist Series, taking place this Thursday, May 16th, from 7-9pm at the label’s retail store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn. Artist will be in attendance, refreshments will be served, and original art will be available for sale, along with limited-edition Artist Series shirts.”
2013 is now officially the worst year ever. I thought it had a chance of looking up after the colossal turd that was the first few months but this just took a biiiiiiiig shit on all my hopes for the year.
Keeping all the Open Space people, Open Space affiliates, and community in my thoughts today. On Monday I was giving a talk to students about artist run collectives, and the majority of my anecdotes and sources were about/from Open Space. At the end of the day I felt so uplifted remembering the accomplishments of my friends, how creative, funny, and proactive they/you all are. I’ll be keeping feelers out about any benefits, fundraisers etc and send them along. Special concern for Weekends/Witch Hat, Max and all of the effort he has put into “Solitary Stones on a Rocky Shore”, and JC the cat who is the sweetest. Sending all my love and good vibes to you to rise above what have been some very tough months.
noooooooooooo everyone stay safe! I’m sending all my open space bros positive vibes!!!
